Our Founder
Our firm founder Camisha Simmons was born and reared in Victoria, Texas. She is the fifth born child of her mother’s eleven children. Though neither of her parents graduated from high school, realizing education would be the game changer that would enable her to climb out of her humble beginnings, Ms. Simmons defied the odds to attain a high level of education.
Her life is a testament to what you can achieve through hard work, perseverance, determination and resilience. She has a fierce entrepreneurial drive that propels her forward in the face of obstacles.
In 2013, Texas Lawyer magazine recognized her as a “Legal Leader on the Rise” — one of Texas’ top 25 up and coming lawyers under the age of 40. She has also been named a “Rising Star” in 2014 and 2015 by Super Lawyers magazine, a Thomson Reuters rating service, for excellence in the practice of law.
Prior to founding Simmons Legal, she practiced in New York and Dallas for close to 8 years as an associate attorney for the international and global law firms of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, DLA Piper and Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP (formerly Fulbright & Jaworski).
Prior to her legal career, she served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
